Friday 28th September saw the launch of Tullamore & District Chamber of Commerce & An Garda Siochana Business Watch Group Scheme. The launch was held in Aras an Chontae on Charleville road and was launched by Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan.

Speaking at the Launch – Tullamore & District Chamber of Commerce’s president Anne Starling stated that ‘this scheme aims to make Tullamore a safer place for businesses and allow quick and efficient means of communication between business owners and an Garda Siochana regarding possible threats. This will increase response times which will ultimately increase prosecutions and lower business crime in the community.”

The new scheme has been very warmly welcomed by both local and national government, and with a great response by local businesses alike.
