Switching on Christmas Lights 2016

Market Square

27th November 2016 at 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Christmas in Tullamore is special time and this festive season is going to be extra magical.

The market to be held in Maket Square from 12pm to 7pm plans to offer a unique selection of local hand crafted gift items, accessories, woodcraft, preserves as well as seasonal foods and drinks.

It’s not officially the Christmas season until the lights are switched on and this year we once again intend to delight with a host of activities. This year’s celebrations will commence at 5.30pm at the Tullamore Train Station where Santa will parade into our town lead by the Tullamore Town Band and the Pipe Band before finally arriving at Market Square/Harbour Street. Our very own, actor Sam Keeley from Tullamore has kindly agreed to take time away from his busy filming schedule to join the celebrations by switching on the Christmas Lights. The evening promises to be a magical one for all the family as we have music from the Choirs sing into the evening. For the little ones there will be surprises galore around every corner with our street entertainers providing plenty of fun and little treats.

A letter received into our offices this week, "Santa wrote I am so delighted to get the opportunity to visit the good boys and girls again. I always’s look forward to meeting the good people of Tullamore and to reading all the lovely letters that I get in the post. It’s now time to get busy writing your letters boys and girls and don’t forget to put them in my giant magical post box in O' Connor Square.

The Tullamore & District Chamber would like to wish our business partners a prosperous Christmas and would also to extend our sincerest best wishes to all of you over the festive season. Let’s make it a magical one
