Tullamore DEW Bottling Facility Gets Green Light From Council

New Bottling Hall For Clonminch Gets Green Light

A TWO storey bottling hall has been given the green light by Offaly County Council and will be located at Clonminch on the same site as the Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery.

Last September William Grant and Sons announced it was moving its Tullamore Dew bottling facility from Clonmel to Tullamore with the loss of 50 jobs.

The announcement was a blow to Clonmel but it's hoped that the same amount of jobs can be created in Tullamore.

This latest move comes following the opening of the €35m Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery in 2014, although the bottling continued in Clonmel.

In 2012 the company opened the newly revamped Tullamore Dew Visitor Centre at Bury Quay which now attracts thousands of visitors each year. 25 people are employed between both places.

The opening of a bottling plant marks a further investment in the town by Grants who are due to end bottling in Clonmel by the end of 2016.

William Grant and Sons bought the Tullamore Dew brand first produced in Tullamore in 1829 from the C&C group as part of a two hundred and sixty million pound deal.

Tullamore DEW whiskey is the second biggest selling Irish Whiskey in the world.
