Details of Annual Business Awards Announced

D'Unbelievables Star to Appear Supported by Covidien
The annual Tullamore Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, supported by Covidien, will take place at the Bridge House Hotel on Saturday 22nd of February, it was announced today. This flagship event, supported by Covidien, is one of the highlights of the business and social calendar. The Awards dinner allows finalists and attendees the opportunity to promote and increase awareness of their businesses as well as the opportunity to make new business acquaintances.
Award attendees will be entertained by comedian, actor and singer Jon Kenny. The Limerick native was part of the comic duo D’Unbelievables. A veteran of several stage and screen roles he starred as Monsieur Thenardier in the movie version of Les Miserables. He is best known outside Ireland for appearing in the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted where he played the cinema owner Michael in “The Passion of St Tibulus” and as presenter Fred Rickwood in “Song for Europe.”
In addition to the existing eight categories, two new awards have been added this year for best customer service and best website. The competition was open to all chamber members and non-chamber members across the region.
Speaking today Dominic Doheny, Chairman of the Tullamore Awards committee said: “We have been very impressed by the amount of nominations we’ve received for all ten categories. The quality of response has been very encouraging. The five person independent judging panel will meet this week to draw up a shortlist and the winners will be announced on the night of the Awards dinner.
“Covidien have been operating in Tullamore for over 30 years. The Tullamore Chamber of Commerce Business Awards is a landmark event in the regional business diary and we’re delighted to have one of our large businesses in the region supporting the awards this year. I’m looking forward to a great evening on the 22nd of February and would like to thank Covidien for supporting us this year in organising this event. Tickets for the Tullamore Chamber Awards cost €50 and can be reserved by emailing info@tullamorechamber.com - The dress code for the evening is business dress. Prior to the Awards dinner there is a Tullamore D.E.W. drinks reception with music also provided by Darren Brown.
