Miss Universe Ireland visits Tullamore

16th October 2018

Storm Callum may have made its presence felt with wind, rain, and grey skies last week, but the arrival of Miss Universe Ireland to Tullamore brought more than enough sunshine and smiles to make up for that.

Come December, 24 year old nurse Grainne Gallanagh from Buncrana in Donegal, will be representing Ireland on the world stage in Bangkok , Thailand, when she takes her place as one of the remaining contestants in with a chance of being crowned  Miss Universe 2018.

But last Thursday, Grainne, in the company of her stunning Miss Universe Ireland crown, her sash, and Brittany Mason  - the director of the Miss Universe Ireland organisation - paid a very special visit to Tullamore as part of her preparations for that December adventure.

First stop on their itinerary was KODE, one of the best known boutiques in the midlands, where Grainne and Brittany were welcomed by proprietor Kara Kearns and the rest of the KODE team. With a hectic schedule ahead between now and when she departs for the Miss Universe final in late November, and indeed for the rest of her year as Miss Universe Ireland, looking stylish and glamourous by day and by night is now a prerequisite to life for Grainne. And as that’s exactly what Kara and KODE specialise in, this was a guaranteed match made in heaven!

“With Grainne set to represent Ireland on such a huge stage soon, and indeed during the rest of her year as Miss Universe Ireland, too”, remarked Kara, “she has a hectic schedule in front of her, there’s no doubt about that.  So we were delighted to link up with her and Brittany to show our support, and make life a little bit easier, more fun, and as glam as possible along the way!”

Kara continued, “Not only is Grainne a fabulous role model, through both her work as a nurse in her regular life and through her advocacy for women’s health in her role as Miss Universe Ireland, but I really have to say that she’s also such a genuinely lovely person in every way. It was a pleasure to have her in store, and I have no doubt at all that she’s going to be the most wonderful ambassador for us. And all of us here at KODE will be behind her all the way.”

To further emphasise Tullamore’s growing role as somewhat of a fashion hub, Grainne and Brittany also had a meeting scheduled with the fashion designer Charlotte Lucas (whose debut bridal collection already has folk eagerly anticipating its official release), before stopping off in Charleville Castle for a personal tour.
