This year’s Grand Canal Offaly Floating Festival highlights The Era of the Grand Canal Lock-Keepers with the Official opening by Retired Lockkeeper Patsy Cummins, Lock 29. The packed events programme is split over two weekends. The first weekend celebrates the historical canal aspects, the adjoining communities, businesses and heritage of Tullamore and an illustration talk on the history of the Grand Canal Lock-keeper. The second weekend has a strong focus on the water activities the canal offers and also a big small engine exhibition, the boat jumble and raft race.
